iTwittered myFacetube*

by Fidelis Studio on November 18, 2009

so, as you may have noticed, kristen and i have been just dang absent from this blog. there is never a good excuse for this, and i know we are all a little wary of *post coming soon post*. but, if you stick with us for a little bit you will see post updated more regularly. i’ve even scheduled some really quality posts. they are already written, composed, and waiting to be published. all i need is a chance people.

anyways, at the risk of apologizing and then shamelessly self-promoting. i thought i might update you all to some other places you might find us in these days of micro-social-blog-networking. anyways getting on with it:

www.twitter.com/fidelisstudio — this is the twitter feed that I from time to time (meaning daily if not more) which feeds to our….

facebook fan page at Fidelis Studio. or you can friend either kristen or me personally.

also, we take part in supporting one facet of our local community at www.mybcs.com. this is a forum for local folk to talk about local things. mainly, its a lot of gripe-ing about local restaurants and public policies, but from time to time we put up photo competitions or just host some photog talk.

ok, that’s the end of the self-promotion today. here’s shipley to give you the shepherd dog look of the day.

a fraction of our family

by Fidelis Studio on October 2, 2009

we are fortunate enough to live just minutes down the street from my brother and kristen’s sister who are married with children. my grandmother would be quick to point out that that is how they used to do it in the old days, but back then we didn’t have cars so you and your brothers just married your neighbor and her sisters. its all legal trust me. they’ve been married for eight years now and have four kids. but this post really isn’t about them. it is about chubby cheeks, sisters, and tutus. one of these girls is a fire cracker while the other one is just so happy you are looking at her.

Clairmont Album Release w/ Fidelis Art Work

by Fidelis Studio on June 18, 2009

Clairmont, a band headed up by none other than our awesome web-designer/canvas-painter/rock-star/neighbor, just released their like fourth or twentieth album (I can’t remeber which one this is). clairmontblogpost002This album focuses on worship, a field their other albums haven’t tackled. It is called “Collective” as in a collective of people helped get this album done, or a collective of people help guide them through life, or a collective of people is the setting in which they prefer to worship the Lord. Anyways, they asked us to help with the album art. So, Kristen and I went and took this sweet Pic for them and Josh finished the typography on it.

clairmontblogpost003Anyways, it’s awesome and you can check out more of their stuff HERE.

Music! Music! Music!

by Fidelis Studio on May 12, 2009

Kristen and I consider ourselves very blessed to be living in a community that places value and hopes in the arts. We realize that it is not just any place where we can pick a night and go find some live music or some show to go enjoy. Our particular community is full of artist and is chalk dang full of some serious talent. I’ve been meaning to post these pictures of recent concerts for some time, but right now is when i am getting to it. So here we go:

A couple of weeks ago we attended a concert featuring Ross King, Clairmont, and Ian Nelson.

blog005

Ross started the night off and was great. Honestly, i expected him to sound like I’ve heard on his CD’s and when he has lead worship. I was pleasantly surprised to hear him play live and play his own stuff. You could tell that the guy likes being in a live setting.

Next, Clairmont played. all i can say is “they…brought…..it”. Kristen, Josh (the lead) and I have since been trying to figure out what “it” is. thoughts?

This whole concert was to benefit International Justice Mission. You can find the mission HERE.

Then a couple of nights ago, our friend Ian C. Nelson played at the Art 979 Gallery. This fella has a new CD which you can buy HERE!!!

BABV got did

by Fidelis Studio on April 8, 2009

so we went ahead this year and did the Bridal Association of the Brazos Valley Mind Blowing Extravaganza. turns out that the average bride is not mind-blown by extravaganzas. weird, huh? we had our booth set up and looking good and we had a good time and met lots and lots of brides. we even had a little give away that was like a photographers trading card. we had our stuff TOGETHER. but i can’t help but think that these things are way too overwhelming. i actually re-connected with an old co-worker friend of mine who just got engaged and her fiance had given her instructions on how not to make eye contact with the vendors and how to act disinterested so that they don’t suck you in and take your time. for the most part it is true, vendors are there to sell and brides are there to be sold to. and honestly, at our first bridal show i was out there giving away stuff and talking to anyone who gave me a even a mere hint of eye contact. but this show was more fun for us. kristen and i just relaxed and made jokes with each other. we were next to a harpist who made our day sound like a disney movie and who doesn’t love that? well, the fifth hour was little bit hard. also, we noticed that vendors that rely on technology (such as photographers like ourselves) tend to show off their gear as a way to show their quality, so in response we went SUPER lo-tech. our total electricity this year ran hot on a wopping 40 watts. we had two lights that shinned on our pictures. our stellar designer friend  hand painted us a georgeous logo on wood and we spent the rest of our energy on meeting, smiling, and relating to new and newly-in-love couples. all in all, we had a good time and we honestly hope that we get to see some of our new acquaintances again, but you know, no pressure. here are some pics of us in our booth: babvbooth1

these are our new sweet business cards. you might see these puppies floating around town.

anybody want to buy a dog?

by Fidelis Studio on April 7, 2009

we woke up this morning before dawn, which isn’t cool, because Shipley had to go to the bathroom. Kristen and I have both been sick for a couple of days now, so i took the dog on a walk as to not wake up Kristen. Also, it was freezing this morning …. and i was barefoot. Anyways, after that Kristen took the dog on another walk so I could sleep. so, after multiple walks, and plenty of play time this dog should have been done for the day. but later Josh (designer extrodinaire) came over and to greet him, our puppy jumped through the window. now we have this broken window and a bloody dog. anybody in the market for one of those? I am going to leave comments open in hopes of a bidding war but will also accept opinions and good dog stories. cheers.

a visit to grandma’s

by Fidelis Studio on March 15, 2009

during this past week, my mom and i (this is kristen speaking, by the way) took my sisters’ three oldest kids to see my grandmother. they were great and grandma handled  lunch at McDonald’s like a pro. after much of the kids pleading “we NEVER get to go to McDonald’s,” that was where we landed for lunch. we’re a bunch of suckers, i know. going to my grandparents house is like  stepping directly back into my young childhood. i love that my grandfather’s chair is still prominently standing in the dimly lit living room, right in front of the big screen television that used to seem larger than life. my grandma has had the same blue couch ever since i can remember. i liked to sink deep into it when i was young, and still as an adult i feel that same sense of being swallowed as i let its velvety plush pillows envelop me. what was strange and really wonderful about being at grandma’s this time was seeing my niece and nephews explore this same world that i did 20 years ago. the boys immediately rush upstairs upon arrival and open every door possible, with an urgency of discovering the best thing to play with in this house full of treasures. it really made my heart glad to watch them  roam and explore and imagine in the same places i did. what made this short time particularly meaningful for me is that grandma’s house is going up for sale. this also means that my own children won’t have these same visit to grandma’s, so i was satisfied seeing  yet another generation enjoying their home. here are a few of the moments at grandma’s, complete with her over sized blue couch and grandpa’s comfy chair. i love you, grandma and i will always treasure the visits to your house.

Road Trip

by Fidelis Studio on February 28, 2009

We went to corpus christi, tx. this week. Some future post include, but are not limited to:

  • what we did there
  • what the point of it was
  • and who we saw

But for now, Texas is Beautiful but not all the time. that is a doosy of a five hour drive here are some highlights.

grapeape

Tim (me) stuck a grape up his nose. And then decided the world should see it.

beach

Then we went to the beach which had to be cropped out of these photos because it was so dirty nasty. also, kristen said these faces are how she sees our marriage. fun.

texas

These are our car ride photos. South Texas is flat and full of What-A-Burgers - a great combo. And this is us doing business and crossing stuff off our list in the car. we are multi-productive.
